2026 UASACT AI & Drone Carnival
The flagship UASACT weekend — AI, drone, and robotics competitions, exhibitions, and education activities at Haishan High School, New Taipei City, July 18–19, 2026.
Purpose
Promote robotics, artificial intelligence, and drone education by hosting international drone and robotics education competitions, alongside hands-on AI, drone, and robotics experience activities — helping education institutions understand future technology directions and training goals, and advancing global technology education exchange.
Further host international drone, robotics, and AI research-and-application competitions, together with top academic forums, to drive the development of cutting-edge international technology.
Host international drone, robotics, and AI industry exhibitions to promote exchange across the global advanced-technology industry.

Competition Schedule
Preliminary qualification: 4+ teams advance 3, 7+ teams advance 4, 10+ teams advance 5, 13+ teams advance 6, and so on. If fewer than 4 teams register for a division, the organizer may cancel it (merging into the South, Central, or North region) with at least 5 days' notice.
Awards
- The top three teams in each division receive an electronic certificate jointly issued by IEEE CISOSE 2026 and TDECA, a certificate from the New Taipei City Government, and a medal.
- Additional paper certificates or custom medals can be ordered by presenting proof of the award and paying a handling fee. Reprint rules apply (see the official registration form).

Drone Events
Drone Mission Obstacle & Fishing Relay
- Drone specifications: must fly within a 20m × 10m × 10m space; flight display height limited to 10m; must have protection against body and rotor (or propulsion) collisions; wheelbase must be 250mm or less; total weight of the fishing drone plus fishing gear must not exceed 250g.
- Each team may register up to 2 drone models for the fishing task; only drones that pass inspection may compete.
- Scoring: teams of no more than 2 members (excluding the coach) relay through the obstacle course and fishing zone. The two pilots share a 4-minute total time. Higher total score wins; ties are broken by shorter total flight time.
- Obstacle course: each pilot flies from a green H takeoff point through 10 scene obstacles in order and lands at a red H point. Each gate passed in the correct order earns 5 points (10 gates = 50 points).
- Fishing task: use a self-made or off-the-shelf 'fishing rod' attachment to retrieve green or red fishing targets. Targets are 16 flags: a 12-point flag (business-card size, green Velcro on both sides) and a 24-point flag (business-card size, red plastic with 4 paper clips). Lift the flag out of its hole and carry it back to the landing point to score.
Drone Soccer (3v3)
- This event is planned and run in accordance with the FAI World Drone Soccer Championships Sporting Rules (Class F9A-B, 20cm) published by the FAI on June 15, 2025.
Drone Soccer Competition (3v3)
This event is planned and run in accordance with the FAI World Drone Soccer Championships Sporting Rules (Class F9A-B, 20cm) published by the FAI on June 15, 2025.
Elementary & Middle School (Foundation)
Focuses on safe operation and teamwork — basic flight control, rule understanding, and competition experience to build interest in technology and spatial/collaboration skills.
High School (Advanced)
Emphasizes tactics and operational stability, combining engineering understanding and strategic thinking to strengthen team division, match pacing, and competitive judgment.
College (Professional)
Focuses on high-intensity competition and professional tactical execution — system integration, on-the-spot decision-making, and alignment with international formats.
Team formation
Teams may register as a school, across schools, or as a social group. Players must present valid ID. Each team registers 3–5 players (3 starters, up to 2 substitutes) and may register 10 self-provided drone balls.
Match mechanism
- Each match is played over 3 sets. Each set lasts 3 minutes, with 2–3 minutes between sets for battery changes and repairs.
- Team roles: only 1 of the 3 drones on the field is the Striker; the other 2 are Defenders/Guides who defend the goal or assist the striker (their goals do not count).
Win / loss
- A set is won by the team with more goals; a tie or no-score set is a draw.
- The first team to win 2 sets wins the match (best of 3).
- If the match is tied after 3 sets, a penalty shootout is held; if still tied, sudden death (golden goal).
Scoring
- The striker must fully pass through the opponent's goal ring from front to back.
- A goal is scored when the striker drone fully crosses the opponent's goal ring in the correct direction.
- Non-striker drones passing through do not score.
- After scoring, all players must return to their own half (behind the center line) before the next attack; violation results in a penalty shot.
Penalties
- Penalty shot: for false starts, failure to return to own half after scoring, or illegal defense (crossing or lingering in the goal ring). The striker takes the shot against one defender within 10 seconds; time does not count toward the set.
- Warning: for unauthorized personnel entering the player area, minor unsportsmanlike conduct, delaying the start, etc.
- Yellow card: for two warnings for the same reason, substituting an active player mid-set, deliberate manual interference, etc. The responsible player is ejected for the rest of the set.
- Red card: for two yellow cards, unregistered players, serious misconduct, or dangerous behavior. The responsible player is ejected for the whole match and the team plays with one fewer drone.
Equipment & venue (Class F9A-B)
- Drone ball: spherical protection cage 20cm (+2cm) diameter; bottom truncation no more than 2cm; propellers max 3 inches; 2.4 GHz remote; takeoff weight including battery no more than 300g; electric motors only, battery max 4S (17V); must have LED light strips — red vs blue teams, with the striker carrying a special identification mark.
- Flying zone: a 6m × 3m rectangle enclosed by a 3m-high protection cage with no internal obstacles; start area at the center of the baseline, no more than 1m wide.
- Goal ring: hung above each baseline, outer diameter about 70cm, inner diameter 40cm, thickness 10cm, hung 2m above the ground (measured to the bottom of the inner ring).
Schedule
- Regional preliminaries: mid-June, at north/central/south college gyms (tentative). Group stage round-robin; win = 3 pts, draw = 1, loss = 0; top 3 from each region advance to the semifinals.
- Taiwan semifinals: July 18–19, Haishan High School activity center. Points-based; the top 2 teams advance to the US league finals.
- US league exchange finals: December 19, 2026, San Jose, California (venue tentative). The top 2 semifinal teams compete; a joint F9A-B (20cm / 3v3) demonstration match is also held.
Awards
- Regional: champion, runner-up, and third place in each region.
- Semifinals: national top 3 by points.
- Finals: champion and runner-up.
- Semifinal prize money: national top 3 receive NT$10,000, NT$5,000, and NT$2,500 respectively (US Joint Finals prize money to be determined by the US organizers).
- Certificates (Taiwan semifinals): a joint UASACT & IEEE CISOSE electronic certificate of participation is issued to all competing competitors and coaches; winners receive the award certificate instead of a separate participation certificate, and winning-team competitors and coaches additionally receive an electronic certificate from the New Taipei City Government.
Robot Events
Robot Sumo
- Robot rules: must be wheeled (tracked not allowed); total weight must not exceed 2kg (including battery); battery-powered only (no external power), rated voltage limited to DC 9V or below; overall length and width 15cm ≤ (L, W) ≤ 30cm, height 6cm ≤ (H) ≤ 30cm; no deformable or extendable structures; only tires may touch the ground (other structures must stay 2mm+ above it).
- Venue: a PP photo-paper field about 120cm in diameter on a rectangular competition table larger than 150cm; boundary line about 5cm wide with a clear red outer marking; the field may be uneven and robots must handle it.
- Format: single-elimination draw, best-of-three per match, all fully autonomous (programmed).
- A robot loses (opponent wins) if it is pushed out of the field, leaves on its own, fails inspection, stops moving for 5 seconds, flips/falls, or loses parts that affect the match. Each round is limited to 1 minute.
Robot Jungle Obstacle
- Robot rules: must be wheeled; length, width, and height each no more than 25cm; weight no more than 1kg; battery-powered only; must be able to follow a line; 3D-printed modifications allowed.
- Venue: a PP photo-paper field with a 2cm-wide black track line; the course has curves and bends of varying difficulty, 3 cylindrical obstacles, and hazard zones (slopes and lakes) marked with 8cm × 10cm blocks.
- Rules: the robot starts from the red START point and must follow the black line to cross the blue finish line. Each team gets 2 attempts, best result counts. Time limit 2 minutes. The robot must leave the line to go around obstacles only between the red warning points, and must avoid the hazard blocks. Leaving the line, reversing, stopping, spinning in place for over 5 seconds, or knocking over obstacles/hazard blocks results in failure.
AI Drone Programming Certification (Beginner & Intermediate)
- This event is held directly on finals day (July 19) with no preliminary round.
- Purpose: through autonomous-flight missions, develop students' integrated abilities in drone control, sensor integration, and programming logic, strengthening creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on skills in STEM education.
- Eligibility: open to elementary, middle, high school, and college students; teams of 2–4; each team brings its own competition drone.
- Drone specifications: wheelbase (diagonal) no more than 25cm; battery capacity no more than 1,000mAh; total weight including battery no more than 249g; must have a distance sensor (infrared, ultrasonic, optical flow, or radar); must support color recognition; programmable via block-based (Scratch, Micro:bit, Blockly) or Python; must be capable of fully autonomous flight.
Online AI Innovation Competition
- Elementary: spark interest in AI and build basic logical thinking
- Middle school: understand AI principles with initial hands-on ability
- High school: apply AI deeply and present innovative solutions
- Advanced: professional AI integration and innovation with patent potential
- Registration: online registration and team submission by May 30, 2026
- Preliminary review: written materials reviewed by email
- Finals: 15-minute online presentation and judging on July 20, 2026
Registration
- All registration is online via the official website www.uasact.com — enter the '2026 UASACT Taiwan Competition Registration Zone', fill in the Google form, upload required attachments, and complete the registration fee bank transfer. Registration is complete only after the competition team confirms by email.
- The AI Innovation Application Competition is reviewed online — submit the completed 'Innovation Design Proposal' to uasact.service@gmail.com.
